Individual Psychotherapy for Adults


​As well as standard Psychotherapy sessions, alternative and adjunct therapies are offered including: dream analysis, inner child dialogue, drawings, relaxation and guided visualisation. These combined approaches are used to assist you in the following areas:
  • improved self-esteem
  • increased clarity in relationships
  • increased satisfaction and direction in career
  • more thorough understanding of patterns of behaviour and thought
  • increased tolerance and understanding of others
  • overcoming addictions, e.g., alcohol, eating disorders, body dysmorphia, drugs, gambling

Family Therapy


​Family Therapy is offered as an effective and efficient way for families to resolve difficulties.  Family Therapy will:

  • generate improved communication and interactional skills between individuals
  • effectively manage conflicts/tensions
  • clarify boundaries and appropriate roles within the family system

​Couples/Parent Therapy


Couples Therapy is offered to all types of couples/parents who are trying to resolve difficulties. Couples Therapy will assist in the following areas:
​
  • increased understanding and tolerance of different perspectives and roles
  • reduction of daily conflict and increase in individual insight
  • reduction in blaming and increase in capacity to take responsibility for negative behaviours
  • support in the integration of blended/step families and understanding of childrens needs
  • effective parenting techniques and strategies


​Psychotherapy for Adolescents & Children

​Psychodynamic based Play Therapy and Art Therapy techniques are utilised in order to establish trust and freedom of expression. Children and young adolescents learn to resolve behavioural, emotional, educational, and social difficulties by developing a secure  attachment with their therapist. Concurrently, parents are helped to resolve their inner needs that were unmet from their own respective childhoods. Parents are also given a range of skills to help support them in providing emotionally corrective experiences for their children.(For older adolescents see “Adults” section). Techniques including story telling, puppets, psycho-drama, drawing, crafts and guided visualisations. Individual and/or Family Psychotherapy effectively enables children and adolescents to overcome difficulties in the following areas:

  • increased self-confidence; ability to make and keep friends
  • resolve peer group problems, e.g., shyness or bullying
  • reduce social anxieties, phobias and food related disorders
  • night terrors, fears, and bed-wetting
  • improved concentration and attention span in school and at home
  • improved capacity to express thoughts and feelings
  • conflict resolution strategies and anger management
  • decreased aggressive behaviour and tantrums
  • depression and social isolation
  • resolving all types of abuse and trauma
  • coping with grief, loss, and family separations

Group Psychotherapy for Adults


​Many individuals seeking therapy feel isolated and dissatisfied in their life situation.  Frequently, they are interested in learning more about how they relate to others, and need assistance with patterns of difficulties that are experienced with communication and direct expression of feelings.  Group therapy is now being offered as providing a highly effective psychotherapy, with groups consisting of between 6-10 members.  Suitability for attendance in group will be discussed with your Therapist, to determine whether it will meet your needs at this time in your life. 

Supervision & Psychotherapy Training for Psychologists

Individual or Group Supervision is provided to Psychologists on a private basis. Psychotherapy study groups are available to Clinical Psychology Registrars.  Group Therapy is also available.  Please inquire for more information and specific costs.
